Trail of the month: Lind Point
Trails in the USVI can sometimes be steep and rocky, but this 2.6 mile (4.2 km) route in the Virgin Islands National Park from Cruz Bay up to Solomon and Honeymoon Beaches is one of the most runnable trails on St. John, with incredible views as a bonus. This flat trail is wonderful for a nice stroll, or you can definitely run it. You can park at the National Park Service Headquarters just off of North Shore Road and follow the paved way out to the trailhead, which hugs the coast heading north past Lind Point and Solomon Beach before arriving at the pristine sands of Honeymoon Beach. The rock and gravel trail can be a little loose at times, so watch your step, but overall it’s a good flat surface with just enough hill work to work up a sweat. Since the hurricanes, a lot of the trees have grown back, so there are great parts which are shady, but there are still some sunny spots so be sure to wear sunscreen and bring water. The National Park has done a great job clearing the grass and brush, so the path is currently nice and wide.
St. John Villa of the month: Isla Vista
This exceptional and private gated residence is located above the town of Cruz Bay with commanding views looking out to the many islands including St. Thomas, St. James, Lovango and St. Croix. It is adjacent to the Virgin Islands National Park and provides the ultimate in privacy. Isla Vista has three beautiful suites each with a California king-sized bed and two with their own separate balcony and patio. Attention to every detail is found throughout this beautiful villa which features travertine marble floors, vaulted cypress ceilings, and custom mahogany doors.Isla Vista is centered around a spectacular 35 foot swimming pool with richly landscaped grounds. Entrance to this villa is via a private estate road with a security gate for complete security and privacy.

Theresa M. Sim has been a resident of St. John, for over 10 years now. She came to visit back in 2008 and never left! Theresa’s journey started at Maho Bay Campgrounds, an Eco-Resort that was nestled in US Virgin Islands National Park. Since then, she’s obtained her Virgin Islands Real Estate License, 100-ton Captain’s License and founded a handful of small businesses ranging from cleaning/maintenance services to gift baskets and retail sales which ultimately lead to the foundation of a property management company, Azure Vacation Homes. She also volunteers at St. John Rescue as an EMR and looks forward to upgrading to EMT. Theresa volunteers for the Pets with Wings Program to help relocate island pets to forever homes in the states.
Originally a horse trainer and farmer from Ohio, Theresa has grown to love her Island Home. People often ask, “Do you like living here?” Her answer never changes. “You have to be patient, everything operates on ‘Island Time’. Amazingly, her beauty never stops. After years of being here, it still takes my breath away. But where the magic really happens, is the Community. The people here are what makes this place so special. There truly is not another place like our little island anywhere in the world. Once you set foot on St. John, famously known as ‘Love City’, she will forever be in your heart. This is how I, as a Realtor, can be so passionate about my job. Being able to share the wonder of this place with others and help them obtain a piece of it as their own, is the ultimate gift.”
