May 2021 St. John Update From Tropical Properties Real Estate

There is a bit of a hike to Salt Pond Bay Beach ( remember, it’s a round trip!). Once there you’ll understand why so many make the trek. The beach is crescent-shaped with great exposure to the sun and breezes. Shallow water access makes this a great spot for swimmers. The beach is protected enough that most days there isn’t much surf. Good snorkeling and convenient access to several trails and sightseeing make it a great choice for an afternoon or day at the beach.

Zoning Requirements in the U.S. Virgin Islands

St. John Trail of the Month: Ram Head Trail

Ram Head Trail is a 2.3 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Concordia, Saint John, US Virgin Islands. The trail is rated as moderate and is primarily used for hiking and trail running. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. This trail goes through several phases, from sand beach to salt pond to cobblestone beach to winding vertical trail to an amazing view. Along the way butterflies danced around us, and Turk’s Cap cactus dotted the rugged hillside.

St. John Charity of the month: Animal Care Center of St. John

The Animal Care Center (ACC) of St. John is located in Cruz Bay. The ACC addresses the problems of cruelty to, neglect and abuse of island animals. The shelter provides kennels for homeless dogs and inside cages for a limited number of homeless cats.

The ACC is a stable resource for the community, providing a no-kill shelter for homeless animals, a resource for animal lovers to find perfect pets, programs for island needs, and a community educational component.
